Pressing biomass and mineral materials on a press compactor
Recently, Ukrainian producers began to respond to the needs of the Middle East market in straw, hay and sawdust. These materials are used in the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and other countries as animal feed and bedding for horses, cows, sheep and poultry. Green alfalfa hay (not dried in the sun) and with a high protein content is in particular demand.
For the supply of such a product from Ukraine, the question of profitability arises, taking into account the high costs of transportation in sea containers. The density of hay, straw, wood chips ranges from 0.12 t to 0.2 t per 1m3. To reduce transportation costs, hay and straw are pressed into packages with a density <0.4t/m3.
Technical capabilities allow for a higher density, but the end user needs to open the compressed bale before use. The optimal packing density of 0.37 t/m3 is suitable for loading into a 40″ HQ container up to 24,000 kg.

The equipment can be manually controlled or automatically controlled by a Siemens microprocessor.
The method of packing the finished package can also be different. A PE, PP, burlap, etc. bag is put on the outlet neck, and it is also possible to install machine strapping. In the first case, bags are needed if loose materials of a small fraction are pressed. A strapping machine is used for unshredded hay and straw.
Such presses have a small installed electrical power from 11kW to 22kW and are capable of developing forces from 80t to 135t.
